Hellas Verona youth product Nicolo Casale recently moved to Lazio on a permanent deal. His move was heavily influenced by Maurizio Sarri.

Agent Confirms Napoli Interest in Verona Standout Defender

Napoli are one of the teams chasing after Nicolò Casale, who will be in high demand in the summer. Milan are also eyeing the Verona center-back, while Lazio came very close to signing him in January. The 24-year-old has had an excellent rookie season in Serie A, and his price tag is still reasonable.

His agent Mario Giuffredi discussed his future to Radio Marte: “The Partenopei are pursuing him, but it is still early. Aurelio De Laurentiis and Cristiano Giuntoli have done well when signing players from the minnows, and they have to continue doing it. They have had better returns that way than when acquiring foreigners.”

Napoli have a tight relationship with Verona, which could help them land Casale. They acquired Amir Rrahmani from them in January 2020, initially leaving him loan to the Scaligeri.

Giuffredi represents a few Azzurri and spoke about the mood in the locker room after the loss to Milan: “There is certainly some disappointment among players. They were aware that the game was pivotal for the Scudetto race. However, they are confident they can come back as there are ten matches to go, and they are not too far off. Winning against Verona would quickly reignite the enthusiasm.”

The agent shielded his clients Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Matteo Politano: “The former has never rested this season. It would be better to play 30-35 matches to perform at a high level. The winger is often heavily criticized, but I disagree with that. It is not fair to make them the scapegoats.”

Napoli have begun looking for defenders and, on top of Casale, they have been linked to Mohammed Salisu and Jen Bednarek. They will move on from Manchester United loanee Axel Tuanzebe. Moreover, they have to decide on their option to extend Juan Jesus’ contract.
