Alex Sandro Can’t Imagine his Life Without Juventus

Alex Sandro’s trophy-laden career at Juventus is nearing its end, with the defender’s contract running out in a few months. Extension talks had hit a standstill long ago, and it seems like the Brazilian will wave goodbye to Turin this summer.

My family and I know that a goodbye will come,” Sandro said in a recent interview, as quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio. “It’s so many stories, it’s so many moments, it’s hard to imagine my life without Juve. When I talk about Juventus, I will always have my eyes shining.

I had a great time. I will always have Juve in my heart.

Sandro joined Juventus from Porto in 2015. During his nine-year stint at the Allianz Stadium, he has won ten major trophies, forming part of a dominant generation. In his first five seasons at the club, the 33-year-old lifted five Serie A titles and helped the club reach the Champions League final in 2017.

As one of the club’s longest-serving stalwarts, Sandro has made over 320 competitive appearances for Juventus. However, recurring injury problems have seen him register just 14 Serie A outings this season, tumbling down the pecking order under Massimiliano Allegri.

Sandro’s likely departure has prompted Juventus to cast a wide net in pursuit of his long-term replacement. Porto left-back Wendell has emerged on the Italians’ radar. But the Brazilian is already 30, meaning Allegri’s side will probably have to widen their search in the summer.
