Despite his struggles, the price tag of Jeremie Boga has not freefallen. Sassuolo has turned down the first bids coming from Atalanta and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Atalanta Set to Sign Lightning-Quick Serie A Winger

Atalanta are reportedly on the cusp of landing quicksilver Sassuolo forward Jeremy Boga in a club-record transfer. As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the French winger is set to undergo medicals before sealing his €22million move to the Gewiss Stadium.

Atalanta will make Boga their most expensive signing ever as part of the club’s efforts to mount a Serie A title challenge this season. La Dea are eight points adrift of top-placed Inter going into the second half of the season and will have to launch a substantial winning streak to whittle down the gap come May.

With Josip Ilicic already in the autumn of his career and summer signing Aleksei Miranchuk struggling with inconsistent performances this season, Atalanta have made the signing of a new winger their top priority. Boga is now a step away from moving to Bergamo after Sassuolo sanctioned the 24-year-old’s €22m switch to Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

The Frenchman has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting wingers in Serie A during his inspiring three-year spell at the Mapei Stadium. After three loan stints Rennes, Granada, and Birmingham City, Chelsea sold Boga to Sassuolo in 2018 for a reported fee of £3.5m.

It turned out to be the best move of his life as the versatile forward found his feet at the Neroverdi. In 108 appearances for the Emilia-Romagna outfit, Boga has racked up 18 goals and ten assists. Apart from the numbers, he is known for his dazzling dribblings and devastating pace, which makes him a perfect addition for Atalanta.
