Azzurri Gaffer Mancini Listed as Potential Candidate for United Job

With rumours circulating quickly regarding Mancini’s future with the Italian national team, the Red Devils have listed the Azzurri gaffer within the frame of potential candidates to replace Ralf Ragnick for the Manchester United job.

As it stands, Mancini is tied to the Italian national team until 2026 after winning the Euro 2020 finals against England at the Wembley Stadium. However, despite his impressive run throughout the prestigious tournament, it could be that Mancini’s era at the helm of the Italian national can come to an end sooner than expected.

With Italy failing to finish first within their 2022 World Cup qualification group, the Azzurri must defeat North Macedonia and Portugal two play-off elimination matches that will take place at the end of March in order to clinch their spot to Qatar in November. If Mancini fails to cross the finish line six months after claiming the Euros, chances are that the board will terminate his contract.

With Mancini’s future highly dependent on the World Cup qualification playoffs, Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the situation very closely and have listed the Italian tactician as a possible candidate for the managerial role next season. According to The Sun, the club officials are set to relieve Ragnick of his duties at the end of this year’s campaign.

Despite Pocchetino and Te Hagen being at the top of United’s priority list, the club officials are very keen on the thought of having Mancini in the dugout as they have been very impressed with the work he has accomplished with the likes of Manchester City, Galatasaray, Inter, Zenit, and  the Azzurri.
