Bennacer Discusses Lengthy Recovery and Milan Support

Ismael Bennacer has returned to Milan for the homestretch of his rehab from a knee cartilage lesion. He spoke about it and more to YouTube’s channel ‘Le Club Des 5’ (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“The club has been fantastic in the last few months. They gave me everything I needed. They followed me constantly and let me choose where to get the surgery and recuperate and understood that the mental element was the most important thing. You don’t get the expected results if you disagree with something; plus, it might generate tension. I was free to call the shots. I spoke with the team a lot, especially with the doctors. We’ve been in touch constantly, and I provided daily reports on how I felt.”

Bennacer needs more time to be ready.

“I’m within the expected timetable. It’s a particular injury in football since the cartilage is involved. It’s a long rehab. We don’t have a precise return date. It takes six to eight months, but then it depends on how the knee reacts.”

Bennacer took stock of his time at Milan.

“It has been a constant progression. When I joined, our goal was to return to the Champions League. The management was rebuilding the team after complicated times. I arrived along with Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao, signing a five-year contract. It’s one of the biggest sides in the world.”
