Bonucci Responds to Allegri and Confirms Future of Cristiano Ronaldo

Leonardo Bonucci wants Juventus to return to the top in Italy and is not worried about Massimiliano Allegri’s sneering remarks. He spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport: “We aim at bringing the Scudetto back home and we do not hide our ambitions. When you are part of this team, that is your goal. We want to do well in Champions League too. Personally, I want to extend the momentum built in the Euro and continue having a major role.”

He does not see Cristiano Ronaldo leaving: “I think he would have stayed even if Lionel Messi did not join PSG. He is an added value for us. I am sure he will help us go deep in every competition this year, maybe even more significantly than in previous ones.”

Bonucci also dished on Miralem Pjanic: “We greeted each other Sunday, but we did not discuss the transfer market. We talked as friends, not as former teammates. He is a great player and he would surely help us if he returned.”

The coach said Bonucci would no longer wear the captain’s armband since he moved to Milan for a year: “I have always had my performances on the pitch do the talking for me. He made a joke to ease the tension, but it was simply hot air. I know what I have to do in the locker room and when I play. He was trying to find ways to motivate me ahead of the new season.” He also singled out Inter, Milan, Lazio, and Roma as title contenders.
