Bernardeschi Offered Downgraded Lazio Contract, Juventus Renewal ‘Close’

Contrasting reports have emerged out of Italy with regard to the future of EURO 2020 winner Federico Bernardeschi, who sees his five-year contract at the Allianz Stadium expire in the less than two months.

The winger has so far disagreed to accept a downgraded renewal offer from the Juventus management – his demand of a four-year deal with a salary of €4.2m net per season excluding bonus was countered with a €3m net per season offer over the course of three seasons.

His stance at the Bianconeri has alerted clubs across Europe, with one Italian and Turkish making initial contact for the Italian winger. Lazio too, like Juventus, have offered a lower salary – a €1.6m net per season offer that Bernardeschi is bound to reject given his wage demands.

However, coach Maurizio Sarri might prove to be instrumental as he is said to be a fan of his former player from their time at Juventus.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have also asked information regarding Bernardeschi’s availability, whereas Barcelona have also been linked in the past.

Nevertheless, reports from Tuttosport (via JuventusNews24) indicate that agreement for a contract extension between the parties is now closer than ever with the player’s agent Federico Pasterello advancing talks with Juventus – the details of which are unknown.
