Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo has bemoaned his side’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Milan at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The fullback accepted the fact that the Partenopei were well below par but pledged to bounce back as they prepare to showdown against Milan once again in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals double-header starting next week.
Di Lorenzo revealed his thoughts to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli (via TuttoNapoli).
“It was a bad performance, we didn’t see the usual Napoli and we will review the mistakes to improve ahead of the next match with the coach.”
He believes Napoli’s upcoming UCL tie against the Rossoneri is going to be a whole different ballgame.
“It will be something else, we’ll start on an equal footing and it will still be difficult because we have seen that Milan are a great team. We will have to do better to get through.”
Finally, Di Lorenzo reserved praise for Napoli fans.
“Throughout the season, there has been incredible enthusiasm, we can’t wait to give them this joy but we know we haven’t won anything yet. And that we still need some more points for the Scudetto. We’ll have to stay focused on the field, and then we will celebrate together.”
Napoli still remain 16 points ahead of Lazio in the Serie A table and can expect to lift the Scudetto as early as the start of May if they get back to winning ways.
