French Icon Patrice Evra on Lukaku: “He Made a Wrong Choice”

As Chelsea succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals first leg, Thomas Tuchel’s tactical outlook was called into question. The German coach brought in Romelu Lukaku for the final half-hour even though the Blues’ attacking incisiveness was well below standard in the first half.

Speaking of which, former Manchester United icon Patrice Evra has come forward with a scathing announcement regarding the Belgian’s current stance at Stamford Bridge.

“People have a short memory, he scored a lot of goals and then got injured and then he made that statement in which he said that one day he will return to Italy, he made a bit of a mess. After such a season at Inter you have to wait and stay,” said Evra. (via FCInter1908)

Lukaku recently spoke out of the blue regarding his wish to re-join Inter and put an end to his second spell at Chelsea – a move that literally that crushed his following among the Blues faithful.

He commented: “I love him from Madonna but he made a wrong choice. And then that declaration. The fans didn’t forgive him and then Tuchel killed him. It’s not a tactical choice, now it has become but Lukaku allowed Tuchel to make this choice, he was number one without this mess.”

Lukaku is still being linked with a move back to Milan, but it is a deal that will certainly not come cheap.

The big Belge spent just two seasons at the Giuseppe Meazza, but etched himself into the Nerazzurri history books by leading them to their first Scudetto last season since the treble days of Jose Mourinho over a decade ago.
