Ibrahimovic Promises ‘Violent’ Return from Knee Injury

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is chomping at the bit to return on the pitch following his knee surgery. The Swedish striker is fully on track in his rehab and shared his thoughts with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’m fine and I’m practicing every day. You’ll notice it when I’ll be back. You can count on that. I’ll do it violently. The key is to be patient in this phase.”

Zvonimir Boban recently advised the 40-year-old to hang his cleats.

“That depends. If I see somebody stronger than me, I’ll quit. But I haven’t yet.”

The forward commented on the current Milan squad.

“The group is stronger than last season. We improved during the summer window and we have more options on the bench now. It’s clear that I like being with the Rossoneri, otherwise I wouldn’t be here.”

The star had high praise for newcomer Charles De Ketelaere.

“He’s a top player, trust me. You just need to give him time to grow.”

Ibrahimovic is currently rehabbing after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery in May and is expected to return in January. He spent the first part of the protocol in a mansion on the Garda Lake with a personal trainer. He will be back at the Milanello training center next week to train under the supervision of the club’s medical staff. The veteran played a few matches with a partially torn ACL last season. Afterward, he re-upped his expiring contract, agreeing to a substantial pay cut considering that he would at best play half of the 2022/2023 season.
