Ibrahimovic Formally Re-Ups His Contract with Milan

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has officially inked the contract that will tie him up to Milan for another season. The Rossoneri directors paid him a visit to a mansion on the Garda lake to put pen to paper. The striker is rehabbing from a left-knee surgery and should return either in January or February.

As per Sky, the 40-year-old will earn a mere €1M base salary in 2022/2023. However, the deal includes wealthy bonuses hinging on his goals, assists and number of appearances. He previously made €7M per year since he came back to Italy.

Ibrahimovic will report to the Milan training center in mid-August to resume practicing with the rest of his teammates and enter a new stage of his recovery program. The center-forward went under the knife to reconstruct his ACL in May after struggling with knee soreness in previous months. He is being personally followed by physiotherapist Giorgio Gasparini, Corriere della Sera reports. The specialist has been collaborating with the club for a long time. He worked wonders with Roberto Biaggio and Filippo Inzaghi in the past.

Ibrahimovic is poised for his fourth campaign in a row with Milan and the sixth in total, considering his stint between 2010 and 2011. He returned in 2020 after the turns at PSG, Manchester United and Los Angeles Galaxy. He has featured in 156 total matches with the Rossoneri, scoring 92 goals and contributing to two domestic titles. The team signed Divock Origi as a free agent to make up for his absence in the first portion of the upcoming campaign.
