Ibrahimovic vs Lukaku: Comparing Derby Numbers Ahead of Milan – Inter

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku are arguably the two most terrifying strikers in Italy – at least if you take Cristiano Ronaldo out of the equation.

On Sunday, the two giants will clash heads one again (hopefully not literally this time), when Milan ”host” Inter in the Derby della Madonnina.

With the two clubs sitting high on the top of the Serie A table, this encounter is expected to be a special one, and thus, each superstar will try to emerge as the ultimate hero for his side.

TuttoMercatoWeb published an interesting article showing the number of goals scored by both Ibrahimovic and Lukaku in the derby matches throughout their illustrious careers.

Being 12 years older than his foe, Zlatan had obviously more derbies on his résumé.

The Swede played in two derby matches during his lone year at Barcelona, scoring one goal in two matches against Espanyol.

While in Manchester, the former Red Devil found the net on one occasion for United against City.

Nonetheless, Ibra’s favorite big clash remains the Milan Derby.

During his days at Inter, the 39-year-old scored two goals in 6 appearances against his current employers.

On the other hand, he managed to score 8 goals in 8 matches while playing for Milan against the Nerazzurri.

Therefore, Ibrahimovic found the back of net on 12 occasions in 19 overall derbies, so what about Lukaku?

The Belgian scored 3 goals for Everton in 8 encounters against Liverpool.

On the other hand, Rom failed to score a single goal while playing in three Manchester derbies and two London clashes during his early days at Chelsea (against Arsenal and Fulham).

But just like Ibrahimovic, Lukaku has been incredibly prolific in the Milan derbies, scoring 4 goals in his 5 appearances.

In conclusion, both sides should be warned that these two lethal strikers have an average of one goal per match whilst playing in the Milan derby for their current clubs.

So who will be the king of Milan this time?
