Inter and Milan Interested in Salernitana Goalkeeper

Guillermo Ochoa has been extremely solid since joining Salernitana. Bigger Serie A sides will consider adding him in the summer if he becomes available. He inked a six-month contract with an option when he was signed to replace the injured Luigi Sepe.

Despite his strong showings, the Granata went back to the previous starter once he recovered. The Italian shot-stopper got the nod versus against Hellas Verona and Lazio. The Mexican legend returned between the sticks and shined in Sunday’s bounce-back win versus Monza.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Milan and Inter are looking for a backup goalie and are keeping tabs on Ochoa. The two powerhouses would put larger sums on the table than his Salernitana wages, but he’d have to settle with being a deputy.

The numbers of the 37-year-old pay the price for his team’s woes and a 2-8 drubbing at the hands of Atalanta. He has allowed 17 goals in 7 matches since joining, recording 32 saves and securing the clean sheet once.

Our Take on Ochoa

Sepe is fine, but the veteran has been much better, and the Campanian side should have him start the rest of the way. They probably won’t keep both to avoid an unnecessary problematic situation. The report about Milan is odd, as they’ll most likely onboard Marco Sportiello.

Instead, Inter are a more believable destination, as Samir Handanovic is probably on his way out. Napoli could also be a landing spot, as it’s far from certain they’ll retain Pierluigi Gollini. But he might seek a team where he’ll continue starting, and perhaps he’ll stay at Salernitana without a competitor.
