Inter have reignited their pursuit of Tiago Djaló, who was on their radar in the past. They haven’t targeted him this summer because he’s currently rehabbing an ACL tear. He tore it in March and will return later this year.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are eyeing him for the January window or a potential Bosman move in 2024. His contract expires at the end of next season. The extension talks have been hindered by his physical problem.
Inter tracked Djaló in previous windows, but they didn’t manage to come to terms with Lille on his valuation. He has already spent time in Milan. He played for a season in the Primavera team of the Rossoneri in 2018/2019. They had purchased him from Sporting CP for €1M but sold him to Les Dogues for €4M a year later.
He has amassed 102 appearances since then, scoring 3 goals. The 24-year-old has debuted with Portugal and has three international caps under his belt.
Our Take on Inter and Djaló
Free transfers need to be set up well in advance, so they are right on schedule. The fact that he’s sidelined helps, although unfortunate for him. He’d be a strong fit for a three-man defense since he’s agile for his size. They have been mildly attached to Merih Demiral but, other than that, it’s still unclear whether they’ll sign another defender in the present session.
