Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has reportedly set his sights on Juventus vice-captain Adrien Rabiot amid the Frenchman’s contractual turmoil. Today’s Tuttosport takes stock of Marotta’s audacious idea of luring the 28-year-old to Giuseppe Meazza at the end of the season.
Rabiot’s contract at Juventus runs out in less than six months. But after signing a short-term extension last summer, he has yet to discuss new terms with the Turin outfit. His mother-agent Veronique remains doubtful about her son’s long-term prospects at the Allianz Stadium.
However, Massimiliano Allegri sees Rabiot as a crucial component of his midfield set-up. The Italian manager has unlimited trust in the ex-Paris Saint-Germain ace and wants to tie him down to a new contract. But as Juventus remain radio-silent, Inter have spotted a window of opportunity.
Known for his persuasion techniques, Marotta is ready to embark on another challenging mission. Signing top-class players in cut-price or Bosman deals was his specialty during his successful time at Juventus. Nothing has changed over the years.
The Inter executive is keen to give Juventus a taste of their own medicine as he bids to go behind their back to convince Rabiot to swap allegiances. Marotta pulled off a similar agreement with Hakan Calhanoglu during the closing stages of the Turk’s career at Milan.
