Inter Take an Interest in Promising Valencia Defender

Inter saw their plans to shore up their defense for free thwarted by Juventus, which onboarded their long-time target Tiago Djaló by paying a fee to Lille, and earmarked Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera while looking for an alternative, Calciomercato informs.

The center-back will turn 20 in June. He was born in Alicante from Colombian parents. He’s under contract with Los Murcielagos until 2026. The starlet has been a regular this season, appearing in 26 matches in La Liga and Copa del Rey.

Inter would prefer a left-footed player who could back up Alessandro Bastoni but could go for Mosquera if the price was right. He has shown well in his maiden season and is touted to have a very high ceiling. Simone Inzaghi has tested Carlos Augusto in such a role in recent games while Francesco Acerbi was unavailable.

The 19-year-old has risen through the ranks of the Spanish youth national teams but might switch to Colombia. The Nerazzurri signed a similar prospect last summer, Yann Aurel Bisseck. He got some run while Benjamin Pavard was out due to a knee injury but hasn’t featured much as of late.

Our Take on Inter and Mosquera

They technically need another man to be whole and have six options in the back, and a lefty would indeed round out their corps. On the other, given Augusto and Matteo Darmian’s versatility, it won’t necessarily be a pure center-back. And it surely won’t be too pricey.
