Inter Trio Avoids Serious Injuries after Scare in Derby

Three key Inter players subbed off in the Derby due to physical problems. However, the early indications are that Nicolò Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Edin Dzeko did not suffer significant injuries. The Nerazzurri have a critical stretch of games coming up after the third international break. They will face Napoli in another crunch Serie A fixture and then Shakhtar Donetsk in Champions League.

The defender is dealing with simple muscle fatigue. Instead, the midfielder has a sore flexor muscle. They both practiced on the side at Coverciano, Italy’s training facility, yesterday, Tuttosport reports. They took some tests, which ruled out strains or other substantial problems. Barella is in worse shape between the two, but he did not bow out right away like Nicolò Zaniolo and Lorenzo Pellegrini did. Roberto Mancini stated that the Inter ace will continue to be assessed ahead of the Switzerland tilt: “It does look to be anything concerning.”

Dzeko soldiered through a similar ailment in the Derby. He underwent exams in Bosnia, which excluded severe injuries and confirmed an overload in a posterior muscle of the right thigh. The striker will remain with his national team as well. He will look to recover for Saturday’s game versus Finland or the ensuing one against Ukraine on November 16th.

Coach Ivaylo Petev stated before the MRI: “We hope Edin could be present for our next matches.” Inter will need him in peak form for the clash with the Partenopei. Lautaro Martinez, Joaquin Correa, and Alexis Sanchez will return fairly late after international duties in South America.
