Juventus ‘Already Working to Sign’ Milan Midfield Mainstay

Having acquired arguably the biggest transfer in Serie A this season – Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina – Juventus do not look done. The Bianconeri, being masters of free transfers, are keen on adding one to their list of central defensive midfielders, with the onboarding of Milan star Franck Kessie.

The Ivory Coast international has long been at contractual loggerheads with the Rossoneri management, given the parties’ lack of consensus ad idem i.e. meeting of the minds. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

With no solutions at bay for the central midfielder so far, Juventus could offer a way out of San Siro, according to reports from Il Corriere dello Sport (via TUTTOmercatoweb). He has so far rejected any advances from Milan for renewed terms of contract, as he demands wages on par with the best earning members of the squad.

The report mentions of Juventus already beginning to work for his signature. Coach Max Allegri is said to be a fan of the midfielder, thanks to the Ivorian’s intelligent style of play and what he offers as an anchorman.

The 25-year-old arrived at San Siro from Atalanta for a fee of €24m in 2019, prior to which he spent two full seasons in Milan on loan. In his five-year Milan stint, he has grown to be a pivotal part of the Rossoneri outfit in the center of the field – registering 37 goals in 206 caps.

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur were the team most involved in trying to sign him the past window, but the North London giants were turned down on a whim.

Having just signed Roma target Dennis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach this January and Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo at the start of the season, Juventus could very well possess one of Serie A’s most complete midfield trios next season with Kessie’s free transfer.
