Juventus Expand Their Search for a New Young Right-Back

Juventus might sign a new right-back in January to add some depth to the role and start the succession plan with Juan Cuadrado, who’s on an expiring contract. The Bianconeri are casting a wide net to find the right guy.

According to La Repubblica, the Old Lady are keen on Sporting CP’s specialist Pedro Porro. He’s more of a summer target since he has €25M valuation. He provided 5 assists in 16 matches this season and debuted with Spain in March.

As per TuttoSport, Juventus recently scouted Olympique Lyonnais’ right-back Malo Gusto. He’s 19 and has already collected 53 appearances with the first team, dishing 6 helpers. His price tag is €15/20M.

The Bianconeri are also tracking Spezia’s revelation Emil Holm, who’s highly coveted in Serie A’s circles, Gazzetta dello Sport informs. An investment is more likely to come at the end of the season, while they are seeking somebody on loan for the upcoming window.

They could sign Rick Karsdorp if Roma agreed to such formula, but the Giallorossi prefer an outright sale given their Financial Fair Play restrictions. Despite his lack of playing time, it’s uncertain Real Madrid will let go of Alvaro Odriozola.

Our Take on Juventus Looking For a Right-Back

The reports are all over the place, which means that they haven’t zeroed in on anybody and ultimately might not pull the trigger. Signing Odriozola wouldn’t preclude them from targeting a youngster a few months later. But they might explore using Federico Chiesa as a wing-back first. Filip Kostic and Cuadrado have plenty of room to attack despite their defensive tasks, and any internal solution, including the early return of Andrea Cambiaso, is more likely than an addition since their budget appears to be small.
