Manuel Locatelli is not the only option to reinforce the Juventus midfield. The Turin-based club is interested in Corentin Tolisso, who has only a year left in his contract with Bayern Munich and could leave this summer. They already tried unsuccessfully to sign him in 2017 and last year. Coach Massimiliano Allegri appreciates his versatility and all-around game, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
Tolisso has collected 96 appearances during his four seasons in Germany, scoring 29 times and providing 17 assists. He could not fully play up to his potential due to multiple major injuries. He tore his ACL in September of 2018, had ankle surgery in 2020, and ruptured a tendon last year.
Juventus had done extensive work on the French international in 2017 when he was at Lyon. However, they had initially decided to use a two-man midfield the following season and did not move early in the transfer market. Tolisso joined Bayern Munich for €41M in mid-June. The Bianconeri changed their mind on the scheme later in the summer and acquired Blaise Matuidi in August.
The two European powerhouses have done business together multiple times in the past, which could facilitate the negotiation. The German outfit purchased Kingsley Coman back in the day, while Douglas Costa switched team twice in recent years.
Tolisso is part of the French squad that will start their Euro later today against Germany in one of the most anticipated matches of the group stage. He will likely split time with Adrien Rabiot during the course of the tournament.
