Juventus outcast Filip Kostic is reportedly on the verge of joining Turkish Super Lig title contenders Fenerbahce on loan. According to Tuttosport via TMW, the Italian giants have sanctioned the Serbia international’s temporary switch to Istanbul.
Kostic will link up with Jose Mourinho’s side on a season-long loan. Fenerbahce will have an option to make his move permanent next summer for a reported fee of around €5m-€6 million. The ex-Eintracht Frankfurt winger will unite with his international colleague Dusan Tadic at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
The 31-year-old has tumbled down the pecking order at Juventus after Thiago Motta’s arrival. The former Bologna manager has deemed the versatile forward surplus to requirements, urging Kostic to find a new club. Though the Serbian initially refused to leave Turin, a lack of first-team opportunities at the start of the season has changed his mind.
Juventus have heavily reinforced Motta’s attacking options. Nicolas Gonzalez and Francisco Conceicao have joined the Bianconeri. And with the emergence of Next Gen prodigy Samuel Mbangula, Kostic had no choice but to depart the club he joined from the Bundesliga in 2022.
Kostic’s contract at Juventus runs out in 2026. However, the Italians hope to sell him to Fenerbahce at the end of the season as he’s no longer part of the club’s plans. Per the latest updates, the left-footed winger has already emptied his locker at the Allianz Stadium, with a new adventure in Turkey waiting in the wings.
