At the Alberto Picco Stadium in Liguria, the struggling Spezia hosted Juventus for what turned out to be a cagey affair. Following a forgettable half an hour of play, Moise Kean broke the deadlock after getting on the end of a cross from Filip Kostic. The Italian striker had to leave the pitch in the second half after sustaining a knock, but his replacement Angel Di Maria killed off the match by doubling the Old Lady’s lead with an impressive strike from distance. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who earned their third Serie A win on the bounce, this time at the expense of Spezia.
Juventus (3-5-2)
Mattia Perin – 7
A confident display from the second-fiddle goalkeeper. Parried away two dangerous attempts from Emmanuel Gyasi and Dimitrios Nikolaou late in the match to earn his clean sheet.
Danilo – 6.5
Despite his questionable passing, it was another solid display at the back from the stand-in Juventus captain. Easily the best from a vulnerable back-three.
Daniele Rugani – 5.5
The former Empoli defender eventually got a grip on the match, but almost gifted Spezia a goal on two occasions by completely losing Eldor Shomurodov.
Alex Sandro – 6
The Brazilian looked decent in defense and tried to support his teammates upfront on some occasions.
Juan Cuadrado – 4.5
A forgettable display from the Colombian veteran who never threatened with his customary daring runs from the right flank. Massimiliano Allegri hauled him off at halftime, so it remains to be seen if he had been suffering from a knock.
Manuel Locatelli – 5.5
The Euro 2020 winner had a horrendous first half. He lost possession and earned a booking in the first 15 seconds of the match. He looked significantly more composed in the period half, but it remains a mediocre performance overall.
Leandro Paredes – 5.5
A mixed bag from the Argentine midfielder. On one hand, he contributed in Kean’s goal, but on the other hand, he was wasteful in possession and mostly second to the ball. Left his place for Fagioli at the interval.
Adrien Rabiot – 6
The Frenchman ran hard, alternating between left and right, but Bianconeri supporters expect more considering his vast potential.
Filip Kostic – 6
Reminiscently to his Juventus teammates, the former Frankfurt man was wasteful with the ball, but at least he provided the assist for Kean’s opener with a delicate cross.
Moise Kean – 7
The former PSG striker brought the match to life by scoring the opener in the 32nd minute. It wasn’t the cleanest of touches, but they all count.
Dusan Vlahovic – 5.5
The Serbian scored his customary offside goal, but was left to fend for himself for the majority of the match. But deserves some plaudits for his high work ethic.
Substitutes
Nicolò Fagioli – 6
The Italian’s introduction added some much-needed flow to the Bianconeri’s rigid midfield.
Mattia De Sciglio – 6
It wasn’t a spectacular performance by any means from the former Milan man, but certainly an improvement on Cuadrado.
Angel Di Maria – 7
The Argentine replaced the injured Kean before sealing the win with a long-range low drive. He needed less than 45 minutes on the pitch to further consolidate his role as the main talisman at Juventus.
Samuel Iling-Junior – N/A
Leonardo Bonucci – N/A
