Juventus Ready for Post-January Assault on Koopmeiners

Juventus don’t have the budget for a major acquisition in January, but they want to lay the groundwork early ahead of the summer and have zeroed in on Teun Koopmeiners. Director Cristiano Giuntoli has been after the star for years but never managed to persuade Atalanta to sell him.

According to Sky, the Bianconeri want to sort of block him right after the end of the present window, sealing his arrival for next season. They are readying a €40M offer plus add-ons to convince La Dea.

Juventus won’t spend for other targets in the next week or so to keep their powders dry for their Koopmeiners pursuit. It’s not so certain the figure will be enough, though. The Bergamaschi reportedly turned down €48M from Napoli in the past.

The Dutch maestro has bagged 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 104 appearances with Atalanta. He has 20 caps with the Netherlands and has hit the next twice with his national team. He’s contracted until 2027.

Our Take on Juventus and Koopmeiners

Their interest is very understandable. The midfielder and his camp have been sending out fliers about their desire to play in the Champions League. That may very well happen in Bergamo, but it won’t be known until the end of the season. He might indeed be the next big sale by La Dea. However, if so, his team will look to generate a proper bidding war involving foreign powerhouses rather than settle for the first offer.
