Felipe Anderson’s renewal talks with Lazio have reportedly hit a standstill, opening the door for Juventus to capture the Brazilian’s services. According to Calciomercato, the 30-year-old has failed to impress the club president, Claudio Lotito, this season, leading to an impasse in extension negotiations.
Anderson is in the final year of his contract at Lazio. Though there’s been mutual consent over prolonging their collaboration, the parties have drifted apart. The former West Ham forward has experienced a dismal start to the season, netting just one goal across 20 appearances in all competitions.
His underwhelming form has forced Lazio to change their minds. Despite agreeing to sign a four-and-a-half year contract worth around €3 million net per season plus add-ons, Anderson has yet to put pen to paper. By the looks of things, the deal is off the table unless he can rediscover his footing in the coming months.
While Lazio chiefs are unsatisfied with Anderson’s form, Juventus wouldn’t mind welcoming him at the Allianz Stadium. Bianconeri director Cristiano Giuntoli holds the versatile winger in high esteem and could try to bring him to Turin on a free transfer next summer. But that’s only if ongoing discussions with Biancocelesti fall through.
Anderson is not having a great season, but he’s still an indispensable starter under Maurizio Sarri. However, the Italian’s future at Lazio is also in doubt following a torrid start to the new Serie A campaign. As such, there’s a chance that both of them could leave the Stadio Olimpico in just over six months.
