Sami Khedira is about to leave Juventus and join Hertha Berlin as he already took the medicals on Sunday, as first reported by Kicker and then confirmed by Italian sources, including Gianluca Di Marzio and Tuttomercatoweb. The Bianconeri will not receive a fee in the deal, but will shed about €6M from the balance sheets by saving on his large salary.
The 34-year-old midfielder will depart after five-and-a-half years with the Old Lady, where he won five Scudetti, three Coppe Italia and three Supercoppe Italiane, scoring 21 times in 145 total appearances. While he was an integral part of the lineup under Massimiliano Allegri, he missed most of the 2019/2020 season due to knee and thigh injuries. As a result, the team decided to move on from him in the previous window but, since Khedira refused every destination, he was subsequently frozen out from the squad and not eligible to play in Serie A and Champions League, although he was reportedly healthy and continued to practice regularly. He will return to Bundesliga after 11 years away, split between Real Madrid and Juventus.
Another Juventus midfielder is slated to switch team, although he never spent time in Turin, as Rolando Mandragora will transfer to Torino since Udinese will let him go and all parties involved have reached agreement. He will join the Granata on an 18-month loan with €12M obligation to buy and will pen a contract till 2025, transfer market expert Nicolò Schira tweeted.
