Juventus manager Thiago Motta has urged marquee striker Dusan Vlahovic to show more composure amid a frustrating start to the season. The 24-year-old goal-getter drew another blank as the Turin giants trounced PSV Eindhoven 3-1 at the beginning of their Champions League campaign.
Vlahovic wasted two glorious chances in the second half to break his scoring drought. The former Fiorentina star has failed to score in back-to-back Serie A matches after netting a brace to inspire Juventus to a 3-0 triumph against Hellas Verona in round two.
Frustration boiled over on Tuesday night as the highest-paid Juventus ace spurned two clear-cut opportunities. A lack of finishing has plagued Vlahovic’s impact in the early season despite his decent all-around performances.
However, Motta believes the goals will come if Vlahovic continues to find himself in the ‘right’ positions.
“Managing Dusan? It’s not difficult,‘ the new Juventus manager said, as reported by Calciomercato. “He always shows up in ideal conditions. Today he didn’t score, it’s true and the striker always wants to score, it’s right that they have this ambition and desire to score.
“He’s the most advanced player we have, it’s his objective. He does many other things very well, today like everyone else he could have done better. I’m happy with his work, he has to manage the emotional side, then the goals will come,” Motta concluded.
Juventus will need Vlahovic at his best on Saturday when they take on Antonio Conte’s Napoli in a mouth-watering Serie A fixture.
