Kamada Admits Maurizio Sarri as Decisive in Lazio Transfer

Lazio attacking midfielder Daichi Kamada has revealed coach Maurizio Sarri as the reason for his choice to transfer to the Biancocelesti from Eintracht Frankfurt. He also dismissed talks of any similarities between himself and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who left Europe to play in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to the press (via Tuttomercatoweb) after his side’s season opening defeat to Lecce, Kamada shed light on his thoughts before choosing Lazio.

“Sarri was decisive in my choice to come to Lazio. He’s a true tactician. I thought that his aggressive and precise football would be good for me and would allow me to grow, so I wanted to play for him.”

Milinkovic-Savic’s exit from the capital club arrived as a shock, as he jumped onto the Saudi bandwagon by moving to Al-Hilal. The Japanese playmaker was one of Lazio’s investments from the Serbian’s departure.

“I was struck by his movements. Obviously, he and I have different styles of play and I think he is physically superior to me.”

Lecce beat Lazio 2-1 to win their first-ever Serie A opener, as Kamada succumbed to a dreary competitive debut for the Biancocelesti that lost after conceding late back-to-back goals following Ciro Immobile’s early strike.
