Latest Goal Sends Immobile into Serie A History Books

Ciro Immobile scored his 188th Serie A goal against Fiorentina, entering the top ten positions of the all-time scorer chart. The Lazio striker shares the final spot with Alberto Gilardino, Alessandro Del Piero, and Giuseppe Signori, but he’s the only active player.

The table is topped by Silvio Piola (274 goals), while Francesco Totti (250) and Gunnar Nordahl (225) complete the podium. Giuseppe Meazza, José Altafini (216), Antonio Di Natale (209), Roberto Baggio (205), and Kurt Hamrin (190) are also currently ahead of the Biancocelesti center-forward.

Immobile commented on his Serie A record to Sky.

“I met Del Piero in the locker room when Italy faced England. We recalled that I actually replaced him in my debut. Reaching him is truly a huge satisfaction for me. Whoever is involved in this sport always shoots for the top, and we all agree he represents the best in football. It’s a chart filled with important names, and joining them is a great pride. There will be time to overtake him, but always respectfully.”

The Lazio star dished on how the season has gone so far.

“I always try to improve myself, and I must be quick because time passes. This club and my teammates allow me to express my full potential, and I’ve been able to insert myself into mechanisms that haven’t always been there in the past. When a gaffer praises you on a human level, that becomes the most important thing. I put myself at the disposal of the squad and the coach and his staff, who work night and day. I try to help them in situations in the locker room where they can’t intervene. I have always felt at home here.”
