Lazio President Spices Up Upcoming Derby with Roma

Lazio president Claudio Lotito underlined the importance of the upcoming Derby and the rivalry with Roma, poking fun at their crosstown rivals in an interview with RDS Radio Serie A.

“It’s a championship within the championship. Its outcome affects your going afterward. The opponents tend to empathize and always make a bustle, but they hide out and disappear if they don’t get the result they want. Instead, our fans tend to suffer in silence.”

Lotito addressed the rumors linking Ciro Immobile to Saudi Arabia.

“It would be a surprise to me if he went there. He’s under contract with us, so we’d need to reach an agreement first.”

Lotito was very pleased with his transfer market decisions last summer.

“Maurizio Sarri asked for Samuele Ricci and Domenico Berardi, and I tried to sign them, but I was met with requests that were beyond any logic, not only for their size, but also for their values relative to their age. We signed Nicolò Rovella, and I don’t think he’s inferior.”

“In addition, I believe those we purchased aren’t lesser players than Piotr Zielinski. By the way, he’s still on the market, and I don’t see many suitors. The same goes for Berardi.”

The Biancocelesti put Daichi Kamada under contract and added Matteo Guendouzi after the Pole turned down their offer to stay put at Napoli, but he remains in a contractual limbo.
