Legendary Milan Defender Sheds Light on Stefano Pioli and Milan’s Scudetto Chances

Milan’s current honorary vice-president Franco Baresi has praised manager Stefano Pioli for the work he has done so far in his tenure and feels that the Rossoneri have a realistic chance of winning their first Scudetto since over a decade.

The legendary defender was attending the presentation of his book ‘Free to Dream’ at the Feltrinelli Foundation in Milan and took the chance to speak to media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport.

He shed light on different topics, including what his position at the club entails and Milan’s Serie A rivals for in the current 2021/22 season.

Speaking of Pioli’s impact on the team, Baresi said: “He has been very good. After the lockdown he formed a group, compacted it and stimulated it. It wasn’t easy and now the players feel involved.”

The icon believes that the club are doing quite well and that the Rossoneri must think big.

“Milan are doing very well, they have grown a lot and you have to believe in it. Milan must think big, be ambitious and respect everyone. The team can give joy,” he said.

He continued by shedding light on the Rossoneri’s Serie A title opponents for the season.

“Napoli are amazing, they started off great. Then there is the Italian champions Inter and Juventus, who will rise again. Milan amazes me for how they play games, with vivacity and personality. One must think big.”
