Liverpool Boss Klopp Hails Milan Veteran as ‘One of the Best Ever’

Milan face Liverpool in their Champions League group opener at Anfield and the excitement before the clash is at an all-time high. Both teams face off only for the third time in history, with their last encounter arriving in the 2007 UEFA Champions League final – a 2-1 win to Milan ensued then.

Almost a decade and a half later, the two European giants go head-to-head once again.

In his pre-match press conference, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for one Rossoneri star who he believes to be ‘one of the best ever players’.

The man he was talking about is none other than Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is ruled out of the clash at Merseyside due to an Achilles strain he endured during Milan’s 2-0 win over Lazio over the weekend.

According to Klopp, his side is lucky to not face the soon-to-be 40 veteran.

He said: “Zlatan, what a player. He is the man for exceptional moments in the game. Zlatan is one of the best to have ever played the game and he knows that. That is the confidence he brings to the game. Some careers maybe ended too early because there was still some fuel in the tank but he squeezes every drop out of his body.”
