Manchester United Lead PSG in Race for Lazio Superstar

Lazio ace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic might just be nearing the end of his stay wih Lazio, with several top clubs on the hunt for his signature ahead of the 2022/23 season. The 27-year-old Serbia international has been in tip-top form for the Biancocelesti this campaign, registering 9 goals and 10 assists in 40 appearances so far – racking up more than 3,000 minutes in total.

Among the interested teams, Manchester United are reportedly in pole position to lure him to Old Trafford with a €60m bid, according to latest reports from Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via LazioNews24). However, Lazio are reluctant to accept the offered price and demand at least €20m more in accordance to the valuation of their most prized asset.

With his contract expiring in the summer of 2024, club president Claudio Lotito expects to cash in on Milinkovic-Savic, instead of selling him for cheap next season. Lazio certainly do not want to entertain the idea of letting him leave for free the season after.

The Red Devils are not the only interested suitors for the Serbian talisman, with Paris Saint-Germain also in the picture to lure him away, as reports from Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24) indicate.

Champions League for is a must for Milinkovic-Savic, wherever he is off to next, and most of it will depend on Lazio’s current campaign where they sit seven points off fourth placed Juventus, who lost 1-0 to Derby d’Italia rivals Inter.

He most recently put in a powerhouse performance against Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico, scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 victory. It was a sweet and necessary win for the Biancocelesti after Roma handed them a derby drubbing last week.
