Milan and Juventus Keep Close Tabs on Roma Contract Rebel

Bryan Cristante’s future at Stadio Olimpico has been ushered into doubt with the latest contractual war in Rome. Although the 27-year-old midfield ace has two more years left on his Giallorossi contract, both the player and the club are at loggerheads regarding a contract renewal deal that will see Cristante earn double of what he currently does.

Cristante rakes in €1.8m net per season in wages, but as per recent negotiations between the player’s agent Giuseppe Riso and the club, he demands €3.5m plus bonuses – the same wage Riso’s other player at the club Gianluca Mancini earns.

Roma are undeterred in the player’s demands and unwilling to meet it, which pitches him on the transfer market for a likely exit if both parties do not lock down a deal.

The former Atalanta man has been followed closely by Sevilla, but according to Calciomercato’s latest reports, Milan and Juventus are also in the picture to lure him away.

The Rossoneri like the idea of bringing back their youth product to San Siro, with Cristante having spent five years in Lombardy, before jumping ship to Benfica.

The Bianconeri on the other hand see him as a valuable addition due to his versatility to function as a regista, trequartista and mezzala, and also because he would arrive relatively cheap than other transfer targets, for around the €15-20m mark. Juventus, however, have their sights set on Nicolo Zaniolo first.

The class of 1995 has already registered 165 appearances in the Giallorossi shirt, etching himself in the club’s ranks as one of its most important players.
