Milan Praised for Mike Maignan ‘Coup’ in Bargain Deal

Milan shotstopper Mike Maignan has seamlessly fit in shape within the first eleven after being brought in as a direct replacement for the talented Gianluigi Donnarumma.

His transition into the Rossoneri colours has been smoother than expected and the Paris Saint-Germain youth product seems to be getting better with each passing game.

Speaking to SkySport24 (via MilanLive), the Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio noted of the youngster’s rise in value on the football transfer market after his €15m move from French champions Lille.

“Milan have made a great coup to take Maignan for €15m, including bonuses,” he said. “The Frenchman is an excellent goalkeeper, now he is perhaps already worth €40-50m.”

The 26-year-old moved on a bargain deal, when he was actually valued at around the €25m mark – according to transfermarkt – which he is still valued at.

Maignan has appeared without fail for Milan this season, recording 6 caps and 540 minutes in total – a perfect 100% appearance rate. He has kept three clean sheets in five matches so far, conceding only three.

Milan remain unbeaten in the league alongside Inter and Napoli.
