Milinkovic-Savic Sidesteps Question About His Future

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic contributed to the victory over Monza with a gorgeous free kick, returning to the stat sheet after seven Serie A matches. The ace was elated about the goal and the result, but he kept things close to the vest about his future in his post-game remarks to DAZN.

“These three points are huge as they will allow us to stay in second place for the time being since Inter didn’t prevail. I had missed scoring and needed it after all the criticism. I finally did. This will give me an extra boost. I haven’t been able to meet expectations in the last few months.”

“It has been a tough stretch for me, but, as I always say, I try to give more and improve day after day. I’ve been practicing free kicks for a while. I’m happy today. This performance confirmed our worth. We haven’t often been able to follow up great showings, like the one in the Derby, in positive fashion in the ensuing match. A lot hinge on us now.”

Milinkovic-Savic was quizzed about his contract but didn’t reply.

“I focus on what happens on the pitch and on helping the team achive its goals. We will see at the end of the season. I don’t want to talk about it.”

Director Igli Tare touched on the matter before the match, indicating that the renewals of the Serb and Pedro don’t depend on their final result.

“They aren’t tied to our Champions League qualification. I expected this position before the start of the season because this is a great team. It’s not a surprise to me. We are determined and concentrated on our reaching our objectives.”
