Mourinho Plotting Summer Swap for Valencia Winger Guedes

While Roma were very active within the transfer window over the course of this year’s campaign, it seems that the acquisitions of Tammy Abraham and Sergio Oliveria were only second pieces to Mourinho’s overall master-plan as the “Special One” is plotting an attempt to bring Gonçalo Guedes to the Stadio Olimpico next season.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Giallorossi are planning on offering Carles Perez in a direct swap-deal for the Portuguese international as the 23 year-old winger has failed to impress Mourinho since his arrival. So far this season, the young Spaniard has not scored a single goal in eleven appearances for the Serie A giants.

As it stands, Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s contract with the Giallorossi is set to expire at the end of the season. In addition, the future of Nicolo Zaniolo is uncertain as Juventus are keen on signing the promising Italian next season. While it seems that both key assets may be leaning towards departing the club next summer, Mourinho is eager to sign the Portuguese counterpart in order to fill the potential void within his squad.

So far throughout this year’s current campaign, Guedes has been in extraordinary form as the Portuguese international has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 22 appearances for Valencia. In addition, the 25 year-old has made 29 appearances for the Portuguese national team and has earned himself six goals for his nation.

With Portuguese winger’s contract with Valencia expiring in the summer of 2023, Mourinho is eager to lure Guedes to the Stadio Olimpico by offloading one of his outcasts within the squad. The club officials firmly believe that the Portuguese international can play a vital role within the long-term future of the Giallorossi through the use of his creativity and flair, his excellent dribbling skills, and his prolific finishing in front of goal.
