Napoli Defender Slated to Snub Manchester United Interest

Amir Rrahmani is starting to draw some attention, in particular from Manchester United, thanks to a solid season at Napoli. Still, he is highly likely to stay with the Partenopei in the summer, especially considering the team’s success.

His agent Adrian Aliaj addressed the rumors to Kosovan outlet Gazeta Blic (via Virgilio): “We have received inquiries from many teams, not only the Red Devils. He is under contract with the Azzurri, and he is very comfortable with them. He is very close to fulfilling his dream of playing in the Champions League.”

The Partenopei acquired Rrahmani from Verona for €14M in January 2020, and he joined the following summer. He has progressively unseated the previous starter Kostas Manolas. The Greek defender eventually joined Olympiacos last January.

On top of Rrahmani, Napoli expect to retain Kalidou Koulibaly, who is also on the radar of Manchester United, Barcelona, and other top sides, Alfredo Pedullà informs. The club does not anticipate any side tabling mammoth offers for the veteran. President Aurelio De Laurentiis is willing to make an exception to his strict salary policy for him.

The Senegalese center-back is currently under contract until 2023. The Azzurri could satisfy most of his requests to re-up. He has shown great attachment to the team over the years and never pushed to depart. The center-back is currently the highest-paid player on the roster and earns €6M per season. Napoli will have more room on that front with Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens leaving and the prize money from the Champions League.
