Napoli Manager Garcia Confident of Having Fans Support

Napoli manager Rudi Garcia talked to the press in the build-up to his side’s trip to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara to take on Bologna on Sunday. Despite experiencing an underwhelming start to his managerial stint at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, the Frenchman believes he has fans’ support.

After back-to-back wins to get their Scudetto defense off to a flyer, Napoli first slumped to a 2-1 home loss to Lazio on matchday three before only barely salvaging a point in a 2-2 draw at newly-promoted Genoa last weekend. However, Partenopei found a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel with a 2-1 victory at Sporting Braga in midweek Champions League action.

Having risked provoking fans’ rage after two underwhelming showings, Napoli must have been relieved after a late win in Portugal. But the road ahead of Garcia is still long, though he feels comfortable in the new surroundings. He is adamant the Partenopei faithful is behind him.

I am happy to be here, to be leading this fantastic squad with my staff. We are motivated and concentrated 100 percent on tomorrow’s game,” the Napoli coach said, as quoted by Alfredo Pedulla

Every time I meet with fans in the city, they encourage me, they say they are behind me and I am speaking directly to them. The glass is half-full, after all, it is never easy to win away in the Champions League. We are not happy to be fifth in Serie A and must win tomorrow.

Garcia will hope Napoli can translate their European form to Serie A tomorrow.
