Roma Could Find Solution for Matias Viña

Roma’s Uruguayan defender could be on his way out of the club in January

After having a solid season last campaign of regular playing time, Matias Viña looks set to leave the club in the winter transfer market. According to Calciomercato, Turkish side Galatasaray could make another bid for the Uruguayan full-back after being too late in the summer.

Viña has lost his spot in the starting 11 to Leonardo Spinazzola, who was injured for most of last season. At the time of writing, the Uruguayan has not had any competitive playing minutes for Roma so far.

While little details about the potential Galatasaray bid is known at the moment, it could be a chance for Viña to get some playing time. Unfortunately for the 24-year-old, time is of essence, with the World Cup just two months away.

Viña played 37 times for the Giallorossi in all competitions last season, scoring no goals. It was his first season with the club after signing from Brazil’s Palmeiras.

Given the squad Galatasaray currently has in store, it could be difficult for the Uruguayan full-back to even break into that team. It may be best that he stays at Roma, especially given the number of games they will have this season.
