Matias Vina, Roma

Roma Concretely Pursuing Palmeiras Defender, Belotti Chase on Hold

Matias Vina is quickly rising through the ranks of the possible Leonardo Spinazzola replacements. Roma are sorting through a plethora of names but prefer younger options. According to Sportitalia, their initial offer to Palmeiras is €10M.

The 23-year-old defender joined the Brazilian club from Club Nacional in January of 2020 for €4.5M. Afterward, he has accumulated 68 appearances, tallying 5 goals and 10 assists. He has been briefly on Milan’s radar as a possible backup for Theo Hernandez. He has 16 caps with Uruguay and other teams are tracking him, so the negotiation will not be easy, the TV channel points out.

Vina fits the profile Roma are looking for, but their first bid may not be sufficient. If they could not sign a youngster, they could add somebody on loan, like Alex Telles from Manchester United. Leonardo Spinazzola will return in January after suffering an Achilles tendon tear during the Euro.

On the Andrea Belotti front, their first offer was too low for Torino, Calciomercato.com informs. Roma are considering improving it with two players that intrigue Ivan Juric. The first one is Marash Kumbulla, who is very familiar with the coach as they were together at Verona, the second is the prospect Tommaso Milanese. However, the negotiation could drag on for a few weeks.

The Giallorossi could wait until the future of Edin Dzeko is decided to step up their efforts to acquire another striker, Il Tempo indicates. The Bosnian forward could be a last-minute option for Juventus and Inter if he terminated his expensive contract with Roma.
