Romelu Lukaku: “Now I Have to Give My All for Inter”

Following the Nerazzurri’s vital 3-0 victory over Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani, Inter forward Romelu Lukaku provided his insight on his individual display this afternoon in a post-match interview.

Despite entering the significant tie while undergoing a rough patch of form after failing to convert from open-play over the course of several matches, the Belgian international broke the deadlock within the 47th minute following a brilliant passing combination with Marcelo Brozovic.

The 29 year-old showed no signs of slowing he down as he burst with pace along the left hand flank after receiving a crisp pass from Hakan Calhanoglu and maneuvered past the Empoli full-back with a swift step-over to slot the ball past Samuele Perisan, making it a brace for himself on Tuscan soil.

With Inzaghi’s side obtaining their first win within the domestic league since the 5th of March, Inter find themselves temporarily in fifth with 54 points, while Juventus, Roma, Milan, and Atalanta all possess a game in-hand.

While speaking to DAZN Italia, via Tuttomercatoweb, Lukaku spoke about the importance of breaking his scoreless spell within the league and has discussed his future amid rumors that Inter are unwilling to renew the Chelsea forward’s loan with the Milanese club for an additional season:

“I have an excellent relationship with the fans, I’ve always tried to give my best for Inter, because it gave me the opportunity to win a very important championship two years ago and now I have to give my best as a player.”

First time of effort. Was the real Lukaku seen in the second half?

“Yes, I think so, I’m gaining confidence in individual actions. I’m also happy for Lautaro, we’ve had some difficult moments in front of goal.”

Do you believe in the race for fourth place?

“For me the Coppa Italia match against Juve is more important, we have to look at match after match.”

You would gladly stay at Inter next year.

“You have to be careful, because the others are talking. Now I have to give my all for Inter.”
