Samardžić Focused on Udinese After Failed Inter Transfer

Udinese were held to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Arechi, as Boulaye Dia’s late strike canceled Lazar Samardžić opener in the 57th minute. The Serbia midfielder, who recently concluded a month-long saga with Inter, has vowed his allegiance to Udinese despite the failed transfer.

Speaking to the club’s official channels (via Tuttomercatoweb) following the draw in Salerno, Samardžić reviewed the game, which was the Friulani’s second winless match on the trot in the new season.

“We played well from the first to the last minute. The goal conceded is a matter of mentality, we know that here in Salerno it’s always a battle. After getting the lead we only defended, we didn’t play like the first 60 minutes”.

The Samardžić saga caved in at the eleventh hour, but the 21-year-old is focused on the new campaign.

“I’m happy, because I always want to help my team, and Udinese is my team. I’m keeping my concentration on the season that awaits me with this shirt.”

The deal for Samardžić fell through after a row with the player’s agents, including his father, despite him passing a medical at Inter. The Germany-born playmaker has 7 goals in 63 games for Udinese since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021.
