Sampdoria have parted ways with Danish talent Mikkel Damsgaard, with Premier League outfit Brentford snapping up his services on a five-year deal. The 22-year-old passed the medicals and put pen to paper Wednesday.
As per The Guardian, Brentford have secured his services for approximately €15M after a Sampdoria stint full of ups and downs. He will become the Bees’ fifth summer signing and will directly replace fellow countryman and ex-Inter man Christian Eriksen in the attacking midfield role.

Sampdoria signed him in July 2020 from boyhood club Nordsjaelland. His first season in the white and blue colors went surprisingly well, as he registered 37 appearances for the club, playing regularly in Serie A.
In stark contrast, the Dane’s 2021/22 campaign was largely marred by a knee injury that ruled him out for multiple months. Despite the issue, he went on to appear 12 times for the Blucerchiati. He leaves the Genoa-based team with 2 goals from 49 caps. Damsgaard is touted to make his full debut with Brentford in their second Premier League matchday against Manchester United at the Gtech Community Stadium over the weekend.
