Sassuolo Ace Gives Hint About His Preferred Destination

A few top Serie A teams are tussling to sign Davide Frattesi. While he didn’t name it, he alluded to having a favorite. Inter, Milan, Juventus, and Roma are all in talks with Sassuolo. He spoke with La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Fantacalcio).

“It wouldn’t be correct to indicate one club because negotiation can always end abruptly. But I’ll try to be extremely sincere: I’ve picked it. I’m sure my agent will find a way to meet my request; otherwise, I’ll send him fishing. I sense that there are multiple outfits pursuing me.”

The Neroverdi star was quizzed about whether playing in the Champions League would be crucial.

“I think about it and I’d like to participate in it, but it’s not the main element. The project is more important. In addition, joining a club ready to win right away or one going through a rebuild wouldn’t make much difference. I’d be pumped anyway. At 23 years old, it’s time for me to shoulder certain responsibilities.”

Frattesi wants the right tactical fit.

“I’m a box-to-box and want to be used as such. I’ve played in a 4-2-3-1 with good results in my first year at Sassuolo thanks to Alessio Dionisi, but I can contribute more in a three-man midfield. Featuring along with Nicolò Barella wouldn’t be a problem. I can operate on the left-hand side too.”

The Azzurri midfielder is tight with Gianluca Scamacca, who might join Roma, but the bond with his boyhood team isn’t decisive.

“I’ve learned to reason and be more lucid in my choices and the way I handle emotions.”

Our Take on Frattesi

His words narrow down the field to Inter and Juventus, in that order, but you never know.
