Sevilla Join Milan in Race for Lazio Midfielder

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto is being touted for a move away from the Stadio Olimpico, given his current falling out with coach Maurizio Sarri. Two names – one from Serie A and another from La Liga – are in contention for the Spanish midfielder’s signature.

According to Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), Milan and Sevilla are the two clubs in pole position for the 29-year-old’s services, who is said to cause unbalance in the Lazio eleven. The two European giants have already made initial contact for him.

Alberto has a transfermarkt value of €32m, but president Claudio Lotito values the player highly and will not entertain any bid short of €40m. Since Alberto has a contract with the Biancocelesti until June 2025, Lazio will look to muster all the transfer fees they can for the talented midfielder.

It seems highly unlikely that Lazio will sell Luis Alberto during the current winter transfer window and will see him part at the end of the season, in June 2022.

He has struggled for continuous game time under Sarri, who is known to prefer ex-Bordeaux midfielder Tomas Basic instead.
