Torino Defender Targeted By Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a big-money move for sought-after Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer ahead of the January transfer window. According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are considering putting together a £21.3m bid for one of the most in-demand Serie A defenders in January.

During his three-year career at Torino, Bremer has developed into one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in Serie A. The 24-year-old is a prototype of a modern-day defender. In addition to his physical presence and tactical awareness, the tall Brazilian boasts respectable speed and technique for a player of his structure. On top of that, he is a genuine aerial threat, as evidenced by his tally of 12 goals from 93 appearances for Torino.

Bremer has been an indispensable first-team fixture over the past few years, and it’s no surprise that Torino are desperate to tie him down to a new deal. The centre-half’s current contract runs out in summer 2023, with no breakthrough in extension talks on the horizon as of yet. It appears as if the player wants to depart Turin for a high-profile club in the upcoming period.

Having knocked back all of Torino’s previous attempts to extend his contract, Bremer has practically invited the interested parties to ply their cases to the Granata. Several Serie A sides, including Milan and Inter, have shown interest in acquiring his services over the past few months. The Rossoneri are particularly keen on landing the Brazilian giant in the wake of Simon Kjaer’s season-ending injury.

However, Bremer’s future could be lying in the Premier League. After bringing in Cristian Romero from Atalanta in the summer, Tottenham are eyeing up another piece of business in Italy. The Argentine has suffered an injury that will keep him out of action until February. So Spurs’ hand has been forced going into the January transfer window.

Despite their utmost efforts to keep hold of their defensive cornerstone, Torino are unlikely to retain Bremer beyond January, let alone the summer.
