Tottenham Trying to Reunite High-Profile Italian Duo to Lead the Club

Tottenham are in talks with Antonio Conte, who left Inter ten days ago, and former Juventus director Fabio Paratici. The coach is looking for an ambitious project and has been short-listed alongside four of five other candidates. He is the one with the higher requests though, Sky Sport reports.

The two parties are about €3M per year apart on the yearly salary, and therefore the Spurs need to make an effort to come to terms. They want to bounce back after a subpar season where they finished seventh and bowed out in the Round of 16 in Europa League. They fired José Mourinho in April, and Ryan Mason took over as a caretaker manager. The return of Mauricio Pochettino is also an option if he manages to leave PSG.

Besides his wages, the club and the manager have to get on the same page on the transfer market strategies and the summer budget. For instance, star striker Harry Kane asked to leave, and Conte will make sure on the side’s intentions and aspirations before joining. He was only a secondary target for Real Madrid, as the negotiation did not progress past the initial stage.

Tottenham reached out to Paratici shortly after Juventus announced that they would not retain him. He is expected to give his answer on the offer to head the technical area next week. The couple spent time together in Turin from 2011 to 2014, winning three Scudetto and two Supercoppa.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Italian executive wished to move to either Manchester United or Real Madrid. However, the Red Devils hired John Murtough, and the Merengues are poised to choose Luis Campos.
