Zilliacus Raises Funds for His Audacious Inter Offer

Finnish billionaire Thomas Zilliacus is continuing his very public bid to take over Inter and has taken tangible steps to convince Stevan Zhang to sell the team. He spoke with TuttoSport.

“I had already stated my intentions a while back. We signed off on a €2.5B gathering of funds with a few investors through my XXI Century Capital company. We’ll be able to lodge a friendly offer now. It’ll respect the Zhang family, which achieved excellent results. They turned the side into one of the best in the world. We have the money and are serious.”

Zilliacus commented on his MO.

“Since I had already come forward publicly, I think it was fair to let the fans know that we have the economic resoruces and that I want to forge ahead. The supporters are the whole club to me. If I had the privilege of being the Inter owner one day, I’d do everything for their sake. I am not looking for notoriety. I don’t care about that. It’s the last thing on my mind.”

Zilliacus addressed the timing of his bid.

“We have to settle a few things, but we’re close. We obviously have an idea about how much to offer Zhang, but I don’t want to go into detail now. I’m always optimistic. You must always think to be on the right track.”
