Zinedine Zidane Coy on Potential Return to Turin to Coach Juventus

Zinedine Zidane has often been labelled as the top target for the Juventus bench, especially recently with Andrea Pirlo on the ropes. After the resounding win over Liverpool, the Real Madrid manager was asked about a possible return and did not shut the door on the idea. “Italy is in my heart, I stayed for five years in Turin and Juventus is still important to me. I do not know if I will come back, we will see, I am here for now,” he told Sky Sport.

His former teammate Alessandro Del Piero complimented him for his accomplishments as a coach and he replied: “Thank you, we played a lot together. I must continue on this path, I like what I am doing but I always aim higher, even though it is not easy. I try because I have the team to achieve it.”

Pinturicchio commented on what makes Zidane a great coach: “He has acquired a mentality similar to Juventus one. You have to give your best in every match, when you win you start focusing on the next one, while, if you lose, it is a problem. Despite his success, he always understates the importance of his work, he does not take credit and gives a lot of room to the players. He works behind the scenes, like any elite gaffer loves to do.”

Zidane played with the Bianconeri from 1996 to 2001, winning two Scudetti, one Champions League and one Intercontinental Cup. He has an excellent relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo and his arrival would guarantee the permanence of the Portuguese ace. However, the latest rumors coming from Spain suggest that he will not leave Real Madrid.
