World Cup winner Zoff did not totally agree with Inter bringing back Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. The Nerazzurri signed him on a one-year loan deal with the aim of boosting their attack line as they will seek to snatch the Scudetto back from rivals Milan. The legendary goalkeeper spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FCInterNews)
“Inter did not need to strengthen themselves so much. With Lukaku, I would say that they are already in place and very competitive, even in Europe.”
When quizzed about who might end up becoming the 2022/23 Capocannoniere, Zoff pinpointed that the big will have to compete with two other marksmen.
“The usual suspects will fight – Lukaku and Vlahovic. But keep an eye on Immobile, who has an impressive consistency.”
On top of dishing on the reunion between Inter and Lukaku, Zoff shed light upon two Azzurri shot-stoppers, Alex Meret and Gianluigi Donnarumma, who are coming off uneven campaigns.
“It seems to me that Meret has the potential to grow. If I look outside, Donnarumma remains in the front row, by far the strongest. He made us win the European Championship and since he is young, I hope he will be able to aim for the World Cup in the future.”
